Cycling the HT550 was one of the greatest bikepacking adventures of my life. The landscape, the weather, the sheer technical difficulty and meeting all the other riders made it a privilege to take part be. Unusually for me, I completed it in on my first attempt, in just over 5 and a half days.

The story of my ride on the Borders 350, a bikepacking route through the heart of the Scottish Borders in late August 2021. Covering over 320 miles in total over rough ground, gravel trails and foot paths, it is a surprisingly difficult and remote route.

Film from riding the Caledonia Loop at the end of April. Starting and finishing in north Glasgow, the route ranges from the city limits out to truly remote glens, from sea lochs to high mountain lochans few see. A wonderful route that shows the very best of Caledonia.

The story of my experience on the 2018 French Divide, a 2267 km (1408 miles) adventure across the rural interior of France on a bikepacking adventure with 126 other riders. After failing to finish the year before, this was a final attempt for me. The ride fulfilled all my hopes and successful completion was the realisation of a long-held dream.

Cycling coast to coast for 134 miles across Scotland with my two sons in our first ever long-distance bike ride together on the John Muir Way. The terrain is a mixture of single track, disused railway, coastal walkways, canal tow paths and winding urban routes through villages and our capital Edinburgh. The diversity of terrain, landscape and scenery makes for an amazing ride.

With a rebuilt bike, a full day free at the weekend and a multi-day event coming up, I needed to do a long training ride from my home in Glasgow. This was the ride. 80 miles in total.

Is there anything more annoying than a clicky or skipping rear derailleur? No, I don't think so.

An unexpectedly gruelling bikepacking adventure going North to South on the Hebridean Way. 225 miles in total. In two and half days. In bad weather. Carrying all my kit to wild camp. Against the prevailing winds. And against the clock to catch the ferry home.

Preparations for my first attempt at an MTB mini-adventure covering 180 miles of the Hebridean Way over 3 days. Not so mini actually... that is a major adventure for me!
